From the very start Operation Soldier Care quickly crossed over many milestones and we have celebrated each one along the way by giving God all the glory and praised Him for keeping our ministry going for our deployed soldiers.
Well, we’ve done it again! We have reached another milestone for the OSC shipments for the troops.
It was Saturday, November 1, 2014 during the 93rd OSC packing session that we reached our 50 ton milestone mark for care package weight. All I can say is, “Wow!”
This month we proudly drove our 100,000 pound care package shipment to the post office in Golden Gate. Both U.S. Postal Service Clerks, Adam and Rochelle, who have processed many OSC packages, proudly held our 100,000 lbs. milestone box. We really appreciate their helping hands and willingness to process all of our shipments with care and not run in the opposite direction when we back up our Ford pickup truck filled with boxes to their Golden Gate location.
During our packing session volunteers and I enjoyed a celebratory cake for the 50 Ton Milestone. It was certainly a sweet victory for both myself and for OSC volunteers.
A few of us tried to comprehend the volume of our sweet milestone victory. It’s not easy thing to do at times. Though one volunteer came up with this thought to better understand how much food, snacks and goodies 50 tons really is — just think of feeding one adult African elephant their daily 300 pounds of food everyday for one year, and that’s equivalent to the milestone we reached for our shipment weight. Again another, “Wow!”
I can’t thank everyone enough for making this happen for our troops. I can’t thank everyone enough for keeping our ministry going so strong over the years. May God continue to bless us so we may bless our troops and keep going until all of our U.S. soldiers return home! Amen and amen.
