Today, September 29, 2013, across the country Gold Star Mother’s Day is observed in the United States on the last Sunday of September each year. It is a day for people to recognize and honor those who have lost a son or daughter while serving the United States Armed Forces.
Southwest Florida Blue Star Mothers, Julie Campbell and Joan Colosimo setup luminaries outside the home of American Gold Star Mother, Susan Scialdo, to honor her for the loss of her son, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Marc A. Scialdo, 31, of Naples, Florida who died on March 11 2013 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Operation Soldier Care supported Marc during his first deployment to Iraq. Care packages were shipped from November 2006 to August 2007.
Marc will remain forever in our hearts and never be forgotten for his ultimate sacrifice for our country. The Scialdo Family will remain forever in our prayers. God bless!
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
